A Jackson Hole Love Story
Jackson Hole Elopement Florals: A Complete Guide to Wildly Romantic Flowers in Wyoming
By Alison | The Floral Studio | Utah Wedding & Elopement Florist
If you're planning a Jackson Hole elopement, you already have extraordinary taste. The Tetons as your backdrop. Golden light pouring over the valley. Just the two of you, surrounded by the kind of natural beauty that makes everything else feel unnecessary.
But here's the question every Jackson Hole bride eventually asks: what do I do about flowers?
As a destination elopement florist based in Utah, I've had the privilege of designing florals for couples who choose Jackson Hole for one of the most important days of their lives. I want to tell you everything — the flowers that work beautifully in that landscape, how to think about your bridal bouquet for an outdoor mountain elopement, and why your florals might just be the detail that ties your entire day together.
Why Jackson Hole Is One of the Most Stunning Elopement Destinations in the US
Jackson Hole, Wyoming sits in the shadow of Grand Teton National Park, one of the most dramatic natural landscapes in the entire country. For couples who want an intimate, adventurous, deeply personal wedding experience, it's hard to imagine a more perfect setting.
What makes Jackson Hole so special for elopements? The Grand Tetons provide an unmatched dramatic backdrop in every season. The area attracts world-class elopement photographers who know exactly how to capture the light. It's intimate and wild, perfect for couples who want their wedding to feel like a genuine adventure. It's also beautifully accessible from Salt Lake City, just a scenic five-hour drive through some of Utah's most breathtaking scenery. And four distinct seasons mean four completely different and equally stunning experiences.
Whether you're eloping in the wildflower meadows of summer, the golden aspens of fall, the snow-draped silence of winter, or the fresh blooms of spring, Jackson Hole delivers every single time.
The Best Flowers for a Jackson Hole Elopement
When I'm designing florals for a mountain elopement, I think about the landscape first. Your flowers shouldn't fight with your surroundings. They should feel like they belong there, like you gathered them on your way to the altar.
For a Summer Jackson Hole Elopement
Summer in Jackson Hole means wildflowers absolutely everywhere. Your florals should lean into that organic, freshly gathered feeling. I love garden roses in blush, cream, or white — soft and lush against mountain greenery. Sweet pea adds incredible movement and trails so romantically outdoors. Ranunculus is delicate, layered, and photographs beautifully in natural light. Orlaya gives that white, lacy, wildflower-coded ethereal quality that I'm completely obsessed with. Chamomile and yarrow give that just-picked-from-a-meadow feeling, and snapdragons add vertical drama and texture that reads so well in photos.
For a Fall Jackson Hole Elopement
Fall is arguably Jackson Hole's most spectacular season. The aspens turn gold, the air is crisp, and the light is impossibly warm. Your flowers should lean into those rich, warm tones. Garden roses in terracotta, rust, or deep blush echo the aspens beautifully. Dahlias in burgundy, peach, or amber are stunning. Astrantia adds that delicate wildflower element, and lisianthus in blush or dusty rose is ruffled and deeply romantic against a fall mountain backdrop.
For a Winter Jackson Hole Elopement
A winter elopement in Jackson Hole is pure magic. Snow everywhere, bare aspens, that incredible quiet that only exists in winter mountains. Keep your florals simple and dramatic. An all-white palette of garden roses, ranunculus, white lisianthus, and white anemone is breathtaking against the snow. White sweet pea adds delicate movement, and dried florals in cream and ivory hold up beautifully in cold temperatures while still looking intentional and gorgeous.
What to Consider When Choosing Your Bridal Bouquet for a Mountain Elopement
An outdoor mountain elopement is a completely different design environment than a ballroom wedding. Here's what I always tell my Jackson Hole brides.
Think about movement and wind. The Tetons can be breezy, and a tightly packed dome-shaped bouquet can look stunning in a photo but may feel heavy and stiff outdoors. I love designing elopement bouquets with some looseness and flow — sweet pea tendrils, soft blooms that move with you rather than against you.
Consider the season and temperature too. Certain blooms handle outdoor conditions better than others. Gardenias bruise easily and hate heat and wind. Garden roses, ranunculus, and lisianthus are much more resilient and still photograph beautifully. I always factor in your specific elopement conditions when sourcing your flowers.
Your bouquet should also feel like you, not like a wedding magazine. One of the most beautiful things about elopements is that you're completely free from tradition. If you want a single oversized garden rose and a ribbon, that is enough. If you want a cascading lush garden bouquet that trails down your dress, we can absolutely do that. Your bouquet should feel completely personal to who you are as a couple.
And finally, scale to your surroundings. The Tetons are big and bold. I often recommend a slightly larger or more dramatic bouquet for outdoor mountain elopements than I would for an intimate indoor ceremony — it reads so much better in photos against such a grand landscape.
Do I Need a Boutonniere for a Jackson Hole Elopement?
Honestly? It's completely up to you. For elopements, I find that a simple boutonniere — one perfect bloom from the same palette as your bouquet — adds a beautiful finishing touch without feeling too formal. A single garden rose, a sprig of sweet pea, or even just an olive branch looks effortlessly elegant on a jacket or blazer in a mountain setting. That said, plenty of elopement couples skip it entirely. There are no rules here, only what feels right for you.
